Dating fish plenty: Are women looking to date younger men because of Demi Moore?
Markus Frind, owner and founder, of the free online dating site Plentyoffish.com, conducted a survey of 50,000 female daters from his website. Some of the results from the survey, are reported on the Timesunion.com blog in an article called: Study of 50,000 Female Online Daters Reveals the Demi Moore Effect. According to the results reported at the Timesunion.com website:
- 35% of women 30 years and older hooked up with men at least 5 years younger than they were on online dating sites.
- 23,024 women were the first ones to contact men. 38% of these 23034 women actively prefaced men at least 5 years younger than they were.
- 10% of women were seek out young bucks at least 10 years younger than they are
- In Canada, 17,684 women took part in the survey. 31% and 8% contacted men 5 and 10 years younger than them respectively.
Dating fish plenty: What was the conclusion
Markus Frind thinks that both men and women are actively seeking out younger partners; thinking that it will lead to a more exciting relationship. Actress Demi Moore’s highly publicized dating and eventual marriage to the much younger Aston Krutcher, apparently made this phenomenon in vogue. Does one single actress, like Demi Moore, have that much juice to start a new online dating trend on Plentyoffish.com? I am not so sure about this though. It has always been a biological, primal impetus to seek out the ‘fittest mate’. I strongly suspect that this so called Demi Moore effect existed for the entirety of human evolution. Demi Moore’s contribution was to make older women dating younger men “prime time”.
Dating fish plenty: Who is your mama?
My final conclusion is that any dudes that are looking to hook up with a “Sugar Mama”….times are getting good.
